Mevo Gen 2 Review -- best suited for Best under $1,500, no subscription. Available for ~$1,299. Skip it if rooms under 14 ft.

The Mevo Gen 2 is the best launch monitor under $1,500 and it's not close. FlightScope's Fusion Tracking combines radar and camera technology to give you measured spin (with stickers), 18 data parameters, swing video capture, and zero annual subscription — all for $1,299. It replaced the Mevo Plus in 2025 at $900 less with better hardware across the board.

The room depth requirement is the main constraint. As a radar-based system, the Mevo Gen 2 needs to be placed 7–8ft behind the ball and needs at least 16ft of usable depth to track accurately. If your room is under 14ft, a camera monitor is the right technology choice regardless of budget. If your room is 16ft+, the Mevo Gen 2 is very hard to beat at this price.

Who should buy this

Buy this if

  • Room is 16ft+ deep
  • Budget is $1,000–$1,500
  • You don't want an annual subscription
  • Outdoor use matters — excellent outdoors
  • You want swing video + shot tracer built in

Skip this if

  • Room is under 14ft — get SkyTrak Plus instead
  • You need accurate spin without ball stickers
  • You want the widest software ecosystem — SkyTrak Plus has more options

Plain English verdict

If your room is 16ft+ and you're comparing the Mevo Gen 2 against the SkyTrak Plus, the decision comes down to two things: room depth and subscription cost. The SkyTrak Plus works in shorter rooms and has more software options. The Mevo Gen 2 costs $700 less, has no subscription, and works outdoors. Over 5 years with typical software costs, the Mevo Gen 2 is significantly cheaper to own.

Against the Garmin R10 at $599 — the Mevo Gen 2 is worth the extra $700 for most buyers. You get measured spin (with stickers), 18 parameters vs 10, swing video, and better indoor consistency. The R10 is the right choice only if budget is the hard constraint.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need ball stickers for the Mevo Gen 2?
Yes for accurate spin measurement indoors. Without stickers the spin data is estimated from ball flight. Stickers are inexpensive (~$20–30 for a pack) and stick to your balls before a session. Outdoors on grass, stickers aren't required as the camera can track the ball's natural markings.
How is it different from the original Mevo Plus?
The Gen 2 launched in 2025 at $900 less than the Mevo Plus with a 6-hour battery (vs 2–3 hours), USB-C charging, and a smaller portrait form factor. Core tracking performance is essentially the same. If you can find the Mevo Plus at a deep clearance price it's still usable, but the Gen 2 is the better buy at any normal pricing.
Does it work in a 14ft room?
It's marginal. The manufacturer recommends 14ft as a minimum but real-world reports show accuracy drops in rooms under 16ft. If your room is exactly 14ft, test it with a return policy available. If it's under 14ft, a camera monitor is the correct technology choice — the SkyTrak Plus at ~$1,995 is the right alternative.
Can I use it without a PC?
Yes — the FS Golf app runs on iOS and Android and gives you full data and basic simulator play without a PC. For full simulator software (GSPro, E6), you'll need a Windows PC. The no-PC workflow is one of the Mevo Gen 2's practical advantages for simpler setups.
